Biscuit World Cup Final

Sponsored by Wombat Books. Lovely in paperback
“Vorsprung Durch Wombat’s Books.”

So we’re here at last. The big one. The climax. The happy ending. The biscuit orgasm. It’s America v Scotland to decide…

THE BEST BISCUIT IN THE WORLD

…so I expect lots of voting in a tight contest. Polling for the final closes at NINE tomorrow night, cos I’ll need an early night before a seven hour drive on Saturday. And keep an eye out for the Chocolate Bar World Cup coming soon, featuring international swapping of confectionary between supporters.

Remember to add a comment to this post to explain why your choice should win. Such comments have already decided several matches. All commenters will be entered into the AMAZE PRIZE DRAW (see below).

REMEMBER, YOU CAN STILL DOWNLOAD YOUR FREE WALLCHART HERE, ALTHOUGH AT THIS STAGE THAT WOULD SEEM PRETTY POINTLESS.

CHOC CHIP COOKIES                  v                 SHORTBREAD

PRIZE DRAW: everyone who leaves a comment will be entered into a Prize Draw after the tournament to win three packets of the World Champion biscuit (unless Tim Tams win cos I have no idea where to get them. You can have Penguins instead) along with a range* of teas in which to dunk them. *might not be a terribly huge range; it depends what I’ve got in the top cupboard.

  1. Shortbread won't melt all over your hands in this heat. And it's awesome. Feisty_Onion

  2. The best biscuit in the world is a KitKat but for a biscuit even I can bake, nice and buttery, short and crisp if rice flour is added, is the delicious SHORT BREAD!!

  3. Shortbread has to be the best biscuit. And I mean those full fat made with butter. Mmmmmm put hairs on yer chest. Or fat on yer hips. :/

  4. hard choice. if I go for the one that beat the custard I would feel dirty. But the other option is a cranny biscuit

  5. Yummy, buttery, crumbly, rich, shortbread. My absolute favourite. Very pleased to see it made it to the final 🙂

  6. Shortbread wins for me, hands down. Its buttery, crumbly loveliness is heaven itself. So simple, so few ingredients, and yet so awesome. A good chocolate chip cookie can be very nice — but the good ones are overwhelmed by the overly sweet, sickly mass produced storebought ones, while shortbread is good whether bought or hand made.

    Mmm, shortbread.

  9. I'm voting Choc. Chip cookies because Chocolate! (and yes, that does deserve the capitalisation.)

Shortbread is often too rich for me, and I've rarely had that problem with cookies.

  11. Seems like a walk-over for shortbread, which is boring for a grand finale but I do hope it wins!!

  13. Gone for the lesser of 2 evils as my beloved Bourbons were knocked out the competition far too soon…Choc Chip Cookies it is.

  14. It would have been a hard decision for me until I read “packet”. If they come from the store, shortbread is far better. Home made chocolate chip cookies can stand up to store bought shortbread, though. But shortbread wins again if both are home made.

  18. Damn, missed it . . not too late though to point out the clinching factor in favour of shortbread, which is that you can't dunk chocolate chip cookies in cranachan. Well, you can, but it wouldn't be right.

  19. If I could only eat one type of cookie forevermore – shortbread wins! Sweet but not too, light and buttery in flavor, goes with everything. 🙂
