Snippet, n. : a bit, scrap, or morsel
Lots of writing yesterday, including a rewrite of a tricky scene in 1322 and the introduction of a major character called Moss, named after Sophie Moss, author extraordinaire, to whom I made a promise to give her name to a character.
Here’s the last few words that I wrote:
‘The man reached down, grasped the front of John’s cotehardie in a fist the size of a piglet, and punched him hard in the stomach. The pain was excruciating. All the wind left John’s body. His assailant pushed him forcefully back into the cabbages.
He stood over John, glaring wild-eyed, breathing heavily, spraying spittle across John’s face. The man’s heavy blotched face loomed over him and the piggy eyes regarded him with hatred.
“You turd!” he spat.’
Release of the new anthology ‘Soul of the Universe’ is imminent, meaning that publicity and marketing for that will take priority for a while. Speaking of which, do you fancy helping with a video trailer for ‘Soul of the Universe’ that is being put together by the publisher? Send me a video of you (or your Mum, or whoever) uttering the emotional words “Buy this book.” Be as creative, or not, as you wish. I can’t guarantee that your clip will be used, but if the publisher likes it they will use it as part of a promotional video for the world to see.
Send your video clips to me at firstname.lastname@example.org
